Oracle® Retail Workspace

A Configuration of Oracle WebCenter Spaces 11.1.1.5 for Oracle Retail

Release Notes

Release 13.2.4

September 2012

For the Oracle Retail 13.2.x enterprise, Oracle Retail Workspace 13.2.4 replaces

previous versions of Oracle Retail Workspace. This Release Notes announces that

Oracle Retail Workspace 13.2.4 is a supported configuration of Oracle WebCenter

Spaces 11.1.1.5 for Oracle Retail.

Going beyond a traditional portal, Oracle Retail Workspace offers the ability to

perform tasks in the context of relevant, valuable information that supports better

decisions. By leveraging an open framework on top of standards-based technology,

Workspace makes it easier for retailers to unite their systems, thus increasing

employee productivity and effectiveness. It enables organizations to evolve with the

needs of the business, delivering a role-based business process layer for the enterprise

that's focused first on the best way to get a job done, and second on the source of data

and logic.

The Oracle Retail Workspace Library is a selection of white papers, technical papers

and sample code sets, accelerators, available to retailers for their reference. The

accelerators are not supported code, but are intended to assist retailers as they design

and implement their own custom workspace versions. As part of this 13.2.4 release,

these documentation and sample code solutions have been consolidated into one My

Oracle Support location: Doc ID: 1461281.1. All previous locations have been

deprecated. For more information, see "Workspace Retail Library—Unsupported" later

in this document.

Documentation-Only Release

Note:

The Oracle Retail Workspace 13.2.4 release is a

documentation-only release. There is no code associated with this

release identifier.

Release Number

To align the release numbers for the Oracle Retail products, this base release of Oracle

Retail Workspace is named 13.2.4. There have been no previous versions of Oracle

Retail Workspace in the 13.2.x code line.

Supported Product Overview

In order to provide a next-generation Oracle user engagement platform for the retail

industry, Oracle Retail Workspace leverages WebCenter Spaces. Oracle Retail

Workspace is not a licensed retail application with any code. Instead, retailers

1

purchase the underlying technology and then leverage the Oracle Retail Workspace

Implementation Guide to configure a portal utilizing Oracle WebCenter Spaces.

The Oracle Retail Workspace configuration utilizes the external application

functionality and the application navigator taskflow of the Oracle WebCenter

Framework to configure Oracle Retail applications in Oracle WebCenter Spaces.

The Oracle WebCenter Framework improves IT development cycle times by

blending Web 2.0 services, processes, business intelligence, and transactions in an

integrated JSF framework. The Oracle WebCenter Spaces 11g offers features

provided by the previous versions of Oracle Retail Workspace that enable retailers

to leverage a productive portal-based environment. Additional benefits of Oracle

WebCenter Spaces include:

Personal Spaces

Business Role Pages

Group Spaces

Group Space Templates

Customer Support Considerations

Retail customers may log defects in My Oracle Support against the configuration

instructions that are provided in the Workspace 13.2.4 Implementation Guide. Because the

only type of defect that can be logged against Workspace 13.2.4 is a Documentation

Defect, all defects must be logged only in Status 13.

To log defects against Oracle WebCenter Spaces 11.1.1.5, follow applicable processes

associated with that product.

Integration with Oracle Retail Applications

Oracle Retail Workspace provides a single point of access to Oracle Retail applications

and reports. Oracle Retail Workspace leverages the single sign-on (SSO) capabilities of

the following Oracle Retail applications:

Oracle Retail Merchandising System (RMS)

Oracle Retail Invoice Matching (ReIM)

Oracle Retail Allocation

Oracle Retail Active Retail Intelligence (ARI)

Oracle Retail Price Management (RPM)

Oracle Retail Store Inventory Management (SIM)

Oracle Retail Analytics
