Step 1：Warming up and lead－in

Step 2：Pre－reading

1．Ask the students to read the words and expressions in the box in

Activity 1.

2．Let them work in pairs and talk about their the words and

expressions in the box.

3．Have some students share their hobbies in class.

4．Let them read the words in Activity 2.

5．Ask the students to work in pairs and choose the words from the box

to describe their hobbies.

6．Teach them the new words in the passage.

Step 3：Reading

1．Play the recording and have the students listen to the tape carefully.

2．Play the tape students listen and repeat，and pay attention to

the stress and intonation.

3．Let students read the passage，work in pairs，find out the difficulties

in the passage and ask the teacher for help.

4．Explain the difficulties to the students.

5．Ask the students to read the passage aloud.

Step 4：Practicing

1．Have the students read the questions carefully once.

1)What advantages can hobbies bring to young people?

2)What hobbies does David have?

3)When did David become a successful writer?

4)Will David's new books be successful?

2．Ask them to answer the questions in Activity 3.

3．Have three students show their answers to the class.

4．Check the answers.
