表示恐惧的英语单词
fear、consternation、dread、fright、horror、panic、terror都有“恐惧”
的意思,均表示因不愉快或恐惧而引起的畏惧心理。
一、fear:
系敬畏,忧虑。可指轻微的害怕或极度的恐惧,还可以指胆小或某种
心理上的不安情绪。表示面对危险、痛苦、灾害、高处等或预感到可
怕的事要发生而表现出的惧怕心理。暗示焦虑或失去勇气。

二、consternation

三、dread

四、fright

则要用fear。

五、horror
要件是hor=shudder, dread 颤抖,害怕。指极度的恐惧。表示因不十
分清楚对自己生命安全造成威胁的因素是什么或者有多么大而产生
的恐惧。形容令人恐怖的事物、情景所引起的强烈的惧怕、反感和厌
恶心理。

六、panic
系恐慌,惊慌。指某种突然的、无法控制且迅速蔓延的恐惧或惊慌。

七、terror
要件是terr=fright 恐吓。系恐惧,惊恐。指对直接威胁个人安危的事
物而产生的震惊或惧怕的心理。在本组词中语气较强。
I shook with terror whenever I was about to fly in an aeroplane.
每次坐飞机前,我都吓得直发抖。
The day of terror ended after police used tear gas and stormed the house.
