believe和believe in的区别

一、believe sb 和 believe in sb的区别

believe sb：字面意思：相信某人，其实是相信某人说的话，相当于

believe what sb says，一般用于具体的事情，如：

--A. Do you believe that my grandfather joined the army?

--B. I believe you.

--A. 你相信我祖父从过军吗？

--B. 我相信你（相信他的祖父从过军）。

believe in sb：相信某人的品行或能力，偏向于正式严肃性的问题，

而且对话双方都是熟人，如:

--A. John stole my camera.

--B. That's not true, I believe in him，he would rather break his

arms than do things like steeling.

--A. 约翰偷了我的相机。

--B. 这不真实，我相信他的为人，他是宁愿弄断自己胳膊也不会去做

偷盗之类的事.

二、believe sth 和 believe in sth的区别：

believe sth：相信某事是真的或者其内容符合事实，sth可以是报道、

故事、理论等，如：

I never believe things that I've never seen.

我从来不相信没见过的事。

After being cheated for several times, John doesn't believe a

word of his.

被欺骗了几次后，约翰再也不相信他说的话了。

believe in sth：

1.相信某事物的存在，sth可以是鬼神、上帝、经文等，可译成“信，

信奉”，如：

I believe in the Bible .

我信奉圣经。

He believes in miracles when he is in trouble = He believes in

the existence of miracles when he is in trouble.

他遇到麻烦时就会相信有奇迹。

If people didn’t believe in some advanced thoeries, many

a thing would not be achieved.

如果人们不相信一些先进的理论，许多事业就无法实现。

2.相信某事物是有效益的、有用的，此时可以用动名词作宾语，也即

believe in doing sth，如：

I believe completely in the need for a second operation for

him.

我深信他需要第二次手术。

I believe in having milk before bed.

我认为睡前喝牛奶好。

3.对某事物有信心，一般是事物的属性或人的特性、能力等抽象名词，

如：

I believe in your ability to get this problem solved.

我相信你有能力把这个问题解决了。

三、 相信自己-believe in oneself

相信自己是用believe还是believe in呢？我们是要相信自己说的话，

还是要相信自己有能力、会成功？答案肯定是后者。

Nobody will believe in you unless you believe in yourself first.

除非你相信自己先，否则没人相信你.

四、不敢相信自己的眼睛-can’t believe one's eyes / ears

不相信自己所看到的或所听到的，即“不敢相信这是真的”。

I couldn't believe my eyes when the gas bottle exploded.

当液化气瓶爆炸时，我不敢相信眼前看到的一切。

五、不敢相信自己这么幸运 can’t believe one’s luck

相当于“can’t believe how lucky one is”，不敢相信自己这么幸运，

也属于“不敢相信这是真的”。

We couldn’t believe her luck when we held the gold metal.

手里捧着金牌，我们不敢相信自己有这么好的运气。
