Look at the diagram on the right on Page 33。 It shows a volcano erupting。

lava。 hurricane, Magma chamber, dormant, extinct volcanoes, ……)
Step 2 Pre-reading
Can you imagine climbing into a live volcano in order to measure the temperature of the
boiling rock inside? Can you imagine doing such dangerous work as part of your job?

Step 3 Reading and comprehending
1。 Fast reading:
Ask students to skim the passage so as to get the key words and general idea of each paragraph
