part

in many expensive activities like sports, traveling

and so forth, so they require more money than their parents would

give

them.

To earn some extra money for their own expenses and also maybe to

save

some money for college or a car, they will try to find a part-time job.

The

types

of work that are open to them usually include yard work, babysitting,

bagging in a grocery store, working in a movie theater, working as a salesclerk,

Reference answer: Writer: Mary Yang, 19 years old, a freshman in a university in Hangzhou

Monday, August 3, 2011

It was one of the hottest days this summer. But for what I did today, it

would have passed without leaving any particular trace in my mind. I worked

as a flier distributor, my first summer job! When I took up the job I didn’t realize

how hard it could be. I was assigned to distribute 2,000 fliers, which meant I

had to go to almost 2,000 families. It was a mission impossible! I came up and

down the stairs as quickly as I could, expecting to finish my job sooner, but the

fliers in my hand seemed reluctant to go away. I felt my legs as heavy as lead.

But I had my promise to keep and there left no choice for me. Finally, I finished

my work. Tired but excited, I couldn’t help calling mum to tell her of my

“accomplishment”.

Only through such experience can we really understand the meaning of

work. Today will be remembered as my special labor day.
