April Fools' Day is a day to play jokes （开玩笑）on others, No one knows how
it began（开始） but people think it first started in France.
In the 16th century, people celebrated（庆祝） New Year's Day from March 25 to
April 1. In 1564 King Charles IX （查理九世）changed it from March 25 to January
1. But some people still celebrated it on April 1, so others called them April Fools.
Each country celebrates April Fools' Day differently. In France, people call the
April Fools “April Fish”. They tape a paper fish to their friends' backs to fool them.
When he or she finds this, they shout “April Fish!” In the America, people play small
jokes on their friends and any other people. They may point down to your shoes and
say, “Your shoelace （鞋带）is untied（没系紧）.” If you believe them and look down
to see, you are an April Fool then.
In a word, April Fool's Day is an interesting day. Just remember, play safe and
have fun!

Jeremy Shu-How Lin is a basketball player with
the New York Knicks of the National Basketball
Association (NBA). Lin is one of the few （很少的）
Asian Americans in NBA history.
Jeremy Lin was born （出生）in California in
August 1988, 1.91 m height. He is a Chinese
