1. Introduction

General Electric (GE) Energy - Industrial solutions a GE heritage business is leading the future of

electrification with advanced technologies that distribute, protect and control. GE provides

customers across various industries with end-to-end product and service solutions that ensure the

reliability and protection of the electrical infrastructure from the power station to the end point and

all the sustainable power technologies in between.

The key features of this application are following:

 Connect to EntelliGuard GTU remotely using Wi-Fi

 Use the mobile device’s camera to scan product code / QR code to get product details

 Read device data using Wi-Fi & store required data for offline reference

 Capture & send snapshot of device parameters, event & error logs

 Bookmark frequently viewed device settings & parameters

Primary users of the application will be as follows:

 Field Service Engineers

 Maintenance engineers

 Installers & technicians

1.1 System Requirement:

The iPhone should have an iOS version 6.0 or above.

2. Purpose

The purpose of this document is to guide the user on the steps involved in using the application.

3. Acknowledge “Terms & Conditions”

 Upon launching the ‘EntelliGuardManager’ application, license agreement with all the terms &

conditions is seen. Accept the terms and conditions by tapping the ‘Accept’ button provided at

the bottom of the screen to use the application.

 After accepting the license agreement, home page of the application having tabs ‘Manage

Real Time’, ‘Get Product Details’ and ‘Demo’ icon button at the bottom of the screen can be

seen

4. Connecting to Breaker

4.1 Global Settings

 Upon tapping either ‘Manage Real Time’ or ‘Get Product Details’ tab and then tapping on ‘More’

button at the top of the page followed by ‘Settings’, directs user to the ‘Settings’ page where

‘Offline’, ‘Language’, ‘Auto Refresh Frequency’, ‘About’ and ‘Demo’ options will be available.

Online mode

 In this mode one can connect to GTU through the Wi-Fi network by making a connection with

required details

 This mode enables user to monitor parameters grouped under different categories,

bookmarking and take snapshots

Offline mode

 Offline mode is activated by changing offline status to ‘Enabled’

 In offline mode, the subcategories loaded in online mode are available for user to view.

 User can bookmark and create snapshot on the data loaded during online mode

Language

Application language can be changed from English to Spanish or Portuguese.

Auto Refresh Frequency

 This is to set Auto Refresh duration for metering sub category

 The default & minimum value is 30 seconds

4.2 Connecting through Wi-Fi mode

Connection with GTU can be made in two ways.

 Entering connection details IP Address, Port, Slave and saving the connection

 Tapping on Auto-Discover icon and entering IP Address and Port and tapping on discover

results in getting all the active connections with various slaves

Note: Auto-discover option is only recommended in networked GTU environment. It will take

considerable amount of time to identify all GTUs in the network.

4.2.1 Connecting manually

 Tapping on ‘Manage Real Time’ directs to the connection screen which will be blank for the

first time

 An alert pop up saying ‘’No connections available for this device. Please add a connection”

will be shown on screen when there are no previous connections added

 Tapping on ‘Ok’ directs to the screen which will have text field entries for ‘Name’, ‘Description’,

‘IP Address’, ‘Port’ and ‘Slave’ and two buttons called ‘Save’ and ‘Connect’

Enabling Wi-Fi connection

 Connect your mobile device to the Wi-Fi transmitter

 Enter IP Address and Port assigned to the Wi-Fi transmitter

 Slave address of GTU can be obtained by navigating to Modbus slave address field under SETUP

option in GTU

 Tapping on ‘Save’ will save the connection details.

 Tap on ‘Connect’

 If the connection is not successful, the color changes to red and then the connection is

inactive

 Long press on the connection name pops up an alert having ‘Edit’ and ‘Save’ options. On

tapping ‘Edit’ user can edit the connection details.

 Swipe on a connection in the connection list and user will get an option to delete the selected

connection.

 On the connection screen tapping the icon with ‘plus’ sign will also take user to new connection

screen.

 User cannot create duplicate connections

4.2.2 Connecting through Auto-Discover

 Tap on Auto-Discover icon available on top right of the screen, Auto-discover screen will appear

Enabling Wi-Fi connection

 Connect your mobile device to the Wi-Fi transmitter

 IP address and Port can be obtained from Wi-Fi transmitter

 Tap on Auto-Discover icon and select the connection mode, enter the IP Address and Port. Now

Tap on ‘Discover’

 Devices having the same IP Address and Port with various slaves IDs will be identified and

added to the connection list

 All the available connections are in green color. Tap any one of the connections from the list

and it will be connected to respective GTU

 If any connection is not getting connected with GTU, color of connection changes to red

indicating that connection is inactive

Long press on the connection name pops up an alert having ‘Edit’ and ‘Save’ options. On

Tapping ‘Edit’ user can edit the connection details.

Swiping on the connection will provide user an option to delete the connection

If the connection found in Auto-Discovery already exists in the manually saved list, then

duplication connection will not be created.

User cannot create duplicate connections

5. Usability

5.1 Reading Parameter values

 After tapping the ‘Connect’ button

 Tap on Settings to see GTU setting information

 Tap on values to see device real time information of the GTU

 Tapping any sub-category will take you to the screen containing all parameters belonging to

that particular sub-category

 On the parameter list screen, one can see (read) the values assigned to each parameter at

that point of time

 Selecting the parameter will take you to details screen

 Metering subcategory (Values) parameter values depends on their respective calculation

expressions

Event Log:

 Event log shows the list of latest 10 trip events

 Each row displays the trip event, its date and time

Error Log

 Error log shows the list of ten error type and their respective codes

6. Product Details

6.1 Catalog Number

 Tapping on the ‘Get Product Details’ tab on the home screen will direct user with options: Power

Circuit Breaker, Cassette and Trip Unit.

 Tapping on any option will allow the user to scan or enter the product catalog number

manually.

6.2 QR code

 This feature allows to scan QR code and get details

*Note: QR code functionality is only available on phones iOS7 and above

7. Bookmarks

 This feature is for saving shortcuts for any subcategory and navigating to saved bookmark

easily from the bookmarks screen

 Tap on ‘Bookmark’ icon (Star icon) at the top of the page, and then the color of ‘Bookmark’

icon will change indicating that the sub-category is bookmarked

 Saved bookmarks can be viewed by tapping the arrow mark of the ‘Bookmark Drawer’ which

is present at the left side of screen

 To delete any bookmark in the ‘Bookmark Drawer’, long press the respective bookmark icon

which will pop up an alert message as ‘Do you want to delete bookmark?’ and tap on ‘OK’ will

delete that bookmark

8. Snapshot

This feature allows user to save the snapshot of current settings & values for future reference.

8.1 Generating Snapshot (Parameter level)

 Connect to a GTU and tap on any ‘Category’ followed by ‘Sub category’ directs to the

parameters screen

 Tapping on ‘Snapshot’ icon at the top of the page pops up an alert box containing message

as ‘Please enter a name for snapshot’

 Give a name for the snapshot and tap on ‘Take snapshot’

 The snapshot will be saved and it will show a message as ‘Snapshot successful!’

 All the saved snapshots can be seen by tapping ‘More’ button at the top followed by

‘Snapshot’ option and then tapping ‘History’ tab

 All the saved snapshots in ‘History’ tab can be seen from any screen both in connected and

not connected scenarios

8.2 Generating Snapshot (Selective)

 Connect to a GTU and tap on ‘More’ button followed by ‘Snapshot’ directs to the ‘Snapshot’

page

 In the snapshot page, there will be two tabs. One tab is ‘Take Snapshot’ which will present at

the left side and other tab is ‘History’ which will present at the right side

 In ‘Take Snapshot’ tab user can select the required categories and tap “Take snapshot”.

 It will show an alert box containing the message ‘Please enter a name for snapshot’

 Give a name for the snapshot and tap on ‘Take snapshot’ again

 The snapshot will be saved and it will show a message as ‘Snapshot successful!’

 One can read the information about the specific snapshot by tapping ‘i’ of the snapshot in the

History tab next to the snapshot name

 On tapping one of the saved Snapshots, an alert will pop up giving the user the option of

Generating Snapshot in PDF and CSV format with options ‘View’, ‘Save’ and ‘Email’

8.2.1 PDF Report

 By default PDF option is selected. Tapping on ‘View’ option opens respective snapshot in PDF

format

 Tapping on ‘Save’ option saves the snapshot in external storage of device in PDF format

 Tapping on ‘E-mail’ opens up default mail client with PDF report attached in it

8.2.2 CSV Report

 Change the default selection of PDF to CSV in alert to ‘View’, ‘Save’ and ‘E-mail’ snapshots in

CSV format

 Tapping on ‘View’ option opens respective snapshot in CSV format

 Tapping on ‘Save’ option saves the snapshot in external storage of device in CSV format

 Tapping on ‘E-mail’ opens up default mail client with CSV report attached in it

 Snapshot can be deleted by selecting the respective check box and then tapping on ‘Delete’

option

 ‘Take Snapshot’ tab will be activated only if device is connected to GTU otherwise it will be

disabled

9. Auto Refresh

 Connect to a GTU and tap on ‘Values’ followed by ‘Metering’

 Parameter values under this subcategory are real time values. They are updated based in

GTU values automatically.

 Now long press the ‘Refresh’ button at the top

 An alert message will appear as ‘Do you want to turn on Auto Refresh?’

 Tap on ‘OK’. Then ‘Auto Refresh’ will be activated

 It can be observed by the change of ‘Refresh’ icon into ‘Auto Refresh’ icon

 This parameter page will be refreshed automatically based on the time interval given in the

‘Auto Refresh Frequency’ in global settings

 Frequency of ‘Auto Refresh’ can be set by tapping ‘Global Settings’ followed by ‘Auto Refresh

Frequency’

 If you want to turn off ‘Auto Refresh’ then long press the ‘Refresh’ button again

 It will show you an alert message as ‘Do you want to turn off Auto Refresh?’

 Tap on ‘OK’ then ‘Auto Refresh’ will change into ‘Refresh’

 Moving out from the metering page will also turn off auto refresh

Demo Mode

 The Demo icon button is located at the right bottom, just above the ‘Get Product Details’ tab,

in the home screen

 Upon tapping the icon button we enter the Demo Mode

10.

 To exit the Demo Mode tap on the Power icon button located at the same place of Demo icon

 The Demo Mode allows the user to have a walkthrough of the application without actually

having to connect to a GTU

 The values of the parameters that we see in Demo Mode are all pre-defined and cannot be

altered
